Things that help you in English
Well, I've been thinking about some things that can really help you guys in English, such as: music, books in english, chatting with people from all around the world and these kind of stuff. I'm gonna put some topics here about what you can do to improve your english skills.
Watching movies and series totally in english
Watching movies in English is a very good way for you to increase your vocabulary, improve your listening and also speaking skills. Watch things you like so much and that you can make sure it will help you in your journey. It can delay a little, because it doesn't happen out of the blue. You've got to practice your listening and speaking skills a lot and at a moment you'll see your progress.
Listening to music
That's a very effective way for you to understand the words perfectly and to improve your vocabulary. You can learn plenty of new words listening to songs. Listen to a singer or a band you like. You'll see how effective it is and how you will be satisfied with the results.
Chatting with foreign people
A very good and fun way to improve your English skills is to chat with foreign people. By meeting people from another country, mostly the English-speaking countries, is so good. For example, if you meet an online american friend, then he/she will be able to help you. And if he/she is learning your language, then you'll be able to help him/her too. That's very helpful. Besides, you both can practice your speaking skills by talking by voice on Skype or even on some websites.
Apps
Well, technology has come to dominate and help to make things easy. There are some apps you can download and learn English calmly and easily. Here's a list of some of them:
- Lingua.ly - It's an app where you can search for new words and it keeps the words in a database for posterior use. You can also listen to the pronounce of the words you search. If you are uncomfortable at saying some words, because of shyness, you can listen to its pronounce fast and easily.
- TOEFL Conversation - If you are studying for a more specific situation like the TOEFL Test/Exam, you can download this great app. It contains a lot of recorded conversations in many aspects and situations. You just download the conversation chosen for you and then it goes to your cellphone so that you can listen to them wherever you want right on your cellphone. Practical, huh?!
- Duolingo - This is also a great app for the beginners. It helps you from the beginning to a more advanced level of English. You learn several words by doing the activities. You can pronounce the words, write them in English and then in Portuguese, answer the questions and so on. I know many people who use this app and say it's a great one. Furthermore, it's free. So download it soon!
